✂️ How I Propagate Pothos (It’s Like Plant Magic!)

Hi! I'm Danika and I looove plants 🌿 Especially pothos. They’re the super chill, leafy vines that grow long like Rapunzel’s hair, but green and way cooler.

Today I’m gonna show you how to make baby pothos plants from a big one. It’s called propagating (fancy word, right?). Let’s go!

🧪 What You’ll Need:

  • A pothos plant
  • Clean scissors or grown-up garden clippers
  • A glass or jar of water
  • Sunshine and patience (but not too much!)

✂️ Step 1: Find the “Node”

Look closely at your pothos vine — see where a little leaf stem sticks out and there’s a tiny bump on the vine? That bump is called a node. That’s where the roots will grow. That’s the magic spot ✨

👉 Cut below the node — like one inch under it. Make sure your cutting has at least one leaf and one node. Boom! You just made a plant clipping!

💧 Step 2: Pop It in Water

Put the node part down in a jar of water. Keep the leaf out of the water so it doesn’t get mushy and gross (ew).

Place your jar near a sunny window, but not full sun — pothos like to chill in bright, indirect light.

🪴 Step 3: Wait & Watch

In about a week, you’ll see roots start to grow! It’s kinda like watching magic happen sloooowly. But it’s worth it.

After the roots are about 2–3 inches long, you can plant your new baby pothos in soil — or keep it in water forever and name it something silly like Sir Sprout-a-Lot. 🥰

🌱 Why I Love Propagating

  • It’s free! (Mom likes that.)
  • You can give baby plants to your friends as presents.
  • You feel like a plant scientist. But cuter.

Have you tried propagating? Tag me @sproutandsparkle and show me your baby plants! Let’s grow together 💚🌸
